1. Once the page loads, locate and click the spot on the page where you want to place the link. Type out descriptive words for the link you will be adding. For example the words “Click Here” may be all that is needed or it could be an entire sentence.
2. Now you will need to select the words or the sentence that is to become your new link. This is done by clicking beside the text (and holding the left mouse button down) and dragging across the text to highlight just what is to be linked (then let the left mouse button loose).
3. Once the text is selected, click the Insert Edit Link Icon (

4. Select Link Type URL from the drop-down box labeled Link Type.
5. Select Protocol from the drop-down box labeled Protocol:
http:// - if the link is going to a regular website. (In general, this is the most commonly used)
https:// - if the link is going to a secure website. (Example: transactions.)
ftp:// - if the link is going to send visitors to a site where you can ftp files.
news:// - if the link is to a news feed.
other - if the link is some other type than what is listed.
6. Next you will need to type (or paste) in the website address that you are linking to (do not include the "http://" or other protocol you selected unless it was "other”) into the box labeled URL.
7. Target Tab: Often when linking to another site, you may not want the web visitor to leave your site when visiting a link. Having the link come up in another browser window helps to solve the problem - it makes the new site come up in a new window while your site is in the original window.
8. Select the "OK" button. Your link is complete. Save and publish the page
